Assam faces the fury of nature every year, in the name of flood. With constant rain comes devastating flood, creating havoc and turmoil hampering the lives of people around the state. A state with a population of more than 20 million people encounters this huge natural calamity every year causing a number of deaths and immense destruction. The Sudden heavy rains overwhelms the rivers and the communities settled near rivers are hit and affected the most.

The residents of Santipur, residing in the abode of nature is surrounded by pain, has lost hopes with shattered livelihood . The wrath of the Air river has created destruction in the area. Moreover heavy rainfall has made it worse. The heavy rainfall and extreme flood has triggered the lives of each and every one of them. Tightening the stomach with ropes while kitchens are only filled with emptied hopes. Excessive flood has complicated and impacted the lives of every one of them, forcing them out of leaving all hopes of survival.

The mighty Brahmaputra has ruled from the start, shattering every possibilities every year, here in Assam. Villagers who are daily wage workers find it a challenge to travel outside the villages during such time due to lack of transportation. Absence of proper drinking water and latrine facilities create hygiene problem. No high grounds for cattle to graze, feed on grass and no proper shelter also creates problems in their livelihood.

Post monsoon many villagers have to re-build their houses, devoid of all facilities and with no proper raw materials.
Flood has not only taken the lives of many people but is the source of many water borne diseases as well.

Many people come forward to help the flood victims, many campaigns to provide funds contributed by the general public.

One such person is this man Mr. Inglishmaker who managed to raise more than 2 lakh crowdfunding in just 2 days and has helped people affected by flood. He has been an active member in contributing relief to some of the people affected by the flood.

The climatic conditions and the terrain makes the state a highly flood prone area.
